Five & 20 exterior Westfield New York

“The Westfield Wonder,” NY State’s First Combination Winery, Brewery & Distillery

Though the “Five and 20” brand name only came into being in 2013, our spirits actually have their roots in 2005, in a small distilling operation that was part of the original Mazza Chautauqua Cellars in Mayville, NY.

As the distillery business expanded, so did our need for space, which also gave us the unique opportunity to branch out into the craft brewing world.

“From the work we’ve done here, we learned there was a need for another, larger facility that we’ve designed to be two times, three times, even quadruple this size over time,” Mazza said, in Mazza Chautauqua Cellars’ compact distillery. “We see great growth potential for this industry.”

Our 105-gallon copper-pot still, which was originally imported by German maker Christian Carl, was moved to the still-room of our new location in Westfield, N.Y., and a second pot still was added in 2015.

The new facility sits on 80 acres of farmland between Route 5 and Route 20 in Western New York, and is now surrounded with crops of various agricultural products that are used in our distilling and brewing operations. Every phase of the project emphasizes sustainable efforts and a “grain-to-glass” model, meaning that we’re working towards having the vast majority of the agricultural ingredients we use for distilling grown on site.

The distillery operation was expanded into a brewery in 2015, and Five & 20 Brewing was born. We now offer 3 “tiers” of beers (including barrel aged beers), with a large variety of beers in bottles and 6 taps in our tasting room.

The new location also houses the new Mazza Chautauqua Cellars, which features Premium New York Wines, Table Wines, Sparkling Wines, Fortified Wines and even Ice Wine of Vidal Blanc, giving visitors a unique opportunity to sample & purchase locally produced wines, craft spirits and craft beers all in one location! These wines are unique from those available at our sister winery, Mazza Vineyards, in North East, PA.

We’ve partnered with Bird to offer seasonal, farm fresh, rustic cooking on our three season courtyard with our new pavilion. Click here for hours and more info.

We’re also excited to announce that TimberFish technologies has officially launched their demonstration fish farm facility on site at our farm in Westfield, NY. We’re excited to be involved with this project, which sustainably uses byproduct from our brewing & distilling operations to grow fish.
